Queen Elizabeth II September 11th Garden to Mark 25th Anniversary of 9/11
Public Remembrance Ceremony Begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Hanover Square in Lower Manhattan
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2026 — The Queen Elizabeth II September 11th Garden will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a free public remembrance ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 11, at the Garden in Hanover Square, Lower Manhattan.
Bereaved families, Senior Representatives from the Commonwealth, First Responders, Serving Military Personnel and Civic Leaders will gather to honor those killed, stand with those who continue to grieve and recognize the courage, service and international solidarity that followed the attacks.
The program begins at 10 a.m., with bagpipes beginning at 10:10 a.m. At 10:28 a.m., a bell toll and moment of silence will mark the collapse of the North Tower. At 11:10 a.m., families, Garden Directors, First Responders, Military Personnel and Diplomatic Representatives will lay white roses in remembrance, accompanied by the Edmonton Police Service Pipes and Drums Band. A second bell and moment of silence at 11:14 a.m. will honor those who died, or continue to suffer, from 9/11-related illnesses and injuries.
The program will include remarks by Chris Elmore MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office; Sir Christian Turner KCMG, His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United States; Canadian Consul General Susannah Pierce; and Australian Consul-General Heather Ridout AO.
Soprano Amber Evans will perform the national anthems of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. The ceremony will also include a reflection and prayer by Father Luigi Gioia of St. Thomas Church, a piper’s tribute by Pipe Major Mick Burgess and a First-Responder Remembrance led by Jose Camacho, Toronto Police Service (Ret.).
Nicholas Howard, Co-CEO of the British Memorial Garden Trust, said, “Twenty-five years on, this Garden is doing what it was planted to do. Howard is Co-CEO of the British Memorial Garden Trust, which administers the Garden.

We remember the past in the hope of protecting our future, because we cannot learn its lessons if we do not remember them.”
Egan lost his father and aunt in the attacks and is a Producer Partner at Lockton Companies.
Bradford E. Billet, CEM, OBE, 9/11 Responder and Executive Board Director, said, “On September 11, I was a responder, and I was there when the North Tower fell. We lost many of our own that day. It was not only an attack on New York; it was an attack on the free world. We have an obligation, duty, and honor to never forget. This Garden is where we will always remember.”
Billet was a Deputy Commissioner in the New York City Mayor’s Office on 9/11 and coordinated the City’s international response following the attacks. Queen Elizabeth II appointed him an Honorary OBE for that work.
