Physician-Scientist Dr. Comings Readies Audiobook Edition of Climate Book as Wildfires and Floods Intensify Worldwide

Physician-scientist Dr. Comings is preparing an audiobook edition of The Science of Global Warming: And Four Ways to Fix It. Drawing on decades of scientific research, the book examines rising CO2 levels, climate change, extreme weather, and the need for carbon dioxide removal and sequestration. With more than 300 scientific references and 106 color illustrations, Dr. Comings aims to make climate science accessible while encouraging evidence-based solutions to global warming.

MONROVIA, CA – August 17, 2026 – Dr. Comings, a physician-scientist and molecular biologist who spent 37 years leading the Department of Medical Genetics at the City of Hope Beckman Research Institute, is preparing an audiobook edition of his latest book, The Science of Global Warming: And Four Ways to Fix It, expected within the coming month. The release comes as wildfires, floods and extreme heat continue to make headlines across the globe this summer, events Dr. Comings points to as a preview of what worsening climate change will bring if left unaddressed.

“The current wildfires, floods and extreme heat killing thousands of people around the world are examples of what will become even more severe if climate change is not taken seriously and reversed,” said Dr. Comings.

Dr. Comings brings an unusual résumé to the climate debate. Over a nearly four-decade research career, he authored 495 peer-reviewed research articles and five books, served as editor of the American Journal of Human Genetics for seven years, and was elected President of the American Society of Human Genetics. That background in evidence-based science, he says, is what drove him to spend years compiling the research behind his latest book.

“All the important variables of global warming, the amount and rate of increase in atmospheric CO2, the earth’s heat imbalance, and the ocean’s temperature, are increasing,” Dr. Comings said. “Climate change is real, the burning of fossil fuels drives it, and it’s progressing rapidly. If it isn’t reversed, it will be a dire threat to our children and grandchildren.”

The book compiles more than 300 references to the scientific literature, each one searchable through Google Scholar so readers can verify the underlying data themselves, alongside 106 color illustrations intended to make the science accessible to general readers. A central argument of the book is that reducing new emissions will not be enough on its own: reaching net zero, Dr. Comings writes, will only keep the problem from getting worse, and not make it better. The book instead calls for a large-scale expansion of carbon dioxide removal and sequestration, reviews several proposed methods for doing so safely, and raises concerns about flaws in some current approaches.

Dr. Comings has discussed his research on climate science and public policy in prior interviews, including appearances on The Chris Voss Show and the Global Book Network podcast, and continues to make the case that empirical data, not politics, should guide the response to a warming planet.

As part of the book’s release, Dr. Comings and the Comings Foundation are distributing free copies to members of Congress and to several philanthropic and business leaders, in hopes that a wider read of the underlying data will inform future policy and funding decisions.

“I have always been concerned with climate change and global warming,” Dr. Comings said of what led him to write the book. “Changing minds on this issue isn’t an easy task, but the data are the data, and I wanted to put them in front of as many people as possible.”

The Science of Global Warming: And Four Ways to Fix It is available on Amazon and in bookstores, with an audiobook edition expected within the coming month. View the book on Amazon.
