SEATTLE, Wash. – September 2, 2026 – Indie developer and publisher Synodic Arc announced that The Boo Croo will launch into Steam Early Access on Sept. 4, bringing colorful four-player chaos to players on the couch and online. The release coincides with PAX West, held Sept. 4–7 in Seattle.
What started as one prototype minigame more than four years ago has evolved into a full co-opetitive party game. Following a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign and community playtests, players can customize their character and tackle seven launch minigames where cooperation, competition and betrayal can change the outcome in seconds.
The Early Access build features The Gauntlet, a fast 20-minute run through five minigames. Players earn candy, purchase upgrades between rounds and use what they collect in a final challenge to escape the haunted house before time runs out. Some of the minigames include searching a dark hotel for hidden keys, repairing a failing spaceship while aliens hunt the halls, collecting Halloween candy while being chased and helping a witch complete spells as the environment changes.
“The Boo Croo started as one minigame we created while I was in graduate school that people kept coming back to play more. I decided to create a full game out of it because I believed it was something that people around the world could share with each other,” said Michael Pulis, founder of Synodic Arc. “Launching in Early Access after nearly four years is a huge milestone, and we’re excited to keep shaping the game with our players.”
The Boo Croo supports local multiplayer, online co-op and PvP. Players can unlock characters, costumes and accessories. Planned monthly updates will add minigames, cosmetics, badges and modes based in part on player feedback. Review keys are available to qualified media and creators upon request.
